A reflection on 10 years of business…

For REAL!

Picture it: It's 2017. My husband and I have been running our chiropractic business together for 5 years. We've grown our family during that time, become super active in our community, bought a house... but something is missing. We aren't really sure what comes "next".

Sure, we've added new services, expanded our office, bought some new shiny equipment. But it all still feels like we are chasing some imaginary carrot dangling in front of us. The "hamster wheel" of running our practice never stops. The office comes first. In all honesty, it's running US.

A few key encounters happened next: I hired a business coach for women in chiropractic. I joined her mastermind program -- and met MORE women in exactly my scenario.

We read Profit First together. It made sense. Sooooo. Much. Sense.

Nothing was the same after that. I did the Assessment. I know knew the numbers. I couldn't UN-see them. Things had to change.

To continue running that business, knowing the path it was on, and all the trends/factors we couldn't change (overnight insurance billing changes reducing our revenue $40,000)....we HAD to make our business more PROFITABLE. We had to start to pay ourselves more, or we were going to burn-right-out.

I start to tell anyone who owns a business -- ANY business -- that they need to read this book. I start mentoring other women DCs -- answering questions, offering advice, helping with spreadsheets. Until I realized it was time to just make this official.

Fast Forward a few years... and here I am, **the business coach I needed**-- committing to helping women in chiropractic get clear on the "Numbers They Need to Know" …in Chiropractic Business.

With an extensive background in health care administration, experience as a small business owner and clinician, she provides accountability and support in a simple way. 10 years ago today we graduated from chiropractic school.

So much energy and anticipation wrapped up into that one day. Years of dedication, education and opportunities.

Ten years in Tennessee for me (after a quick stop in Switzerland)… opening a practice, having 2 babies, buying a house, getting my Master’s, selling the house + practice, moving, being an associate, being a stay at home mom during the pandemic, being a house call chiro, mentoring & coaching other women in chiropractic all along the way….

It’s been quite a ride so far!! Excited for the next 10 years in this profession!!
